Lenovo Group Limited has announced the retirement of two key executives, WaiMing Wong and Laura Quatela. WaiMing Wong, who has served as the group's Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for 17 years, and Laura Quatela, the Chief Legal and Corporate Responsibility Officer (CLO), will step down from their roles effective March 31, 2025. Both will transition to non-executive director positions on Lenovo's Board of Directors starting April 1, 2025.
WaiMing Wong joined Lenovo in 1999 as an independent non-executive director before taking on the CFO role in 2007. Laura Quatela became part of Lenovo in 2016 as Chief Legal Officer, a position later expanded to include corporate responsibility.
The company also announced new appointments effective April 1, 2025. Winston Cheng, currently Senior Vice President and Deputy CFO, will assume the role of group CFO. David Carroll, Vice President and General Counsel for Intelligent Devices Group and Group Operations, will become the new CLO. Both Cheng and Carroll will join Lenovo’s Executive Committee and report directly to Chairman and CEO Yuanqing Yang.
Yuanqing Yang commented on these transitions: “WaiMing and Laura have both made significant contributions to Lenovo’s global success... While we congratulate both on their retirements... we look forward to their ongoing contributions... as non-executive directors of Lenovo.”
Yang further expressed confidence in the new appointees: “We are thrilled to welcome Winston as our new CFO and Dave as our new CLO... These new leadership appointments ensure we remain well-positioned to steer Lenovo through its next stage of growth.”
Winston Cheng joined Lenovo in April 2024 with extensive experience from investment banking and technology sectors. His previous roles include Global Co-Head of Technology at HSBC and President International at JD.com. David Carroll is recognized within Lenovo for his leadership in legal affairs across various divisions.
