Apple has introduced the iPhone 16e, expanding its iPhone 16 lineup with a model that offers significant features at a more accessible price point. The device is powered by the A18 chip and Apple’s new C1 modem, enhancing performance and battery life. It also includes Apple's personal intelligence system, Apple Intelligence, which emphasizes privacy.

The iPhone 16e features a 48MP Fusion camera with an integrated 2x Telephoto lens for optical zoom capabilities. Additionally, it provides satellite connectivity options such as Emergency SOS and Roadside Assistance when outside cellular or Wi-Fi coverage.

Kaiann Drance, Apple's vice president of Worldwide iPhone Product Marketing, stated: “iPhone 16e packs in the features our users love about the iPhone 16 lineup, including breakthrough battery life, fast performance powered by the latest-generation A18 chip, an innovative 2-in-1 camera system, and Apple Intelligence.”

The device is designed to be durable with IP68-rated water and dust resistance and features a Ceramic Shield front cover. Its display is a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR with OLED technology.

The phone supports wireless charging and USB-C connections. It runs on iOS 18, which introduces various customization options for apps and widgets along with enhanced privacy protections.

Apple's environmental initiatives are reflected in the iPhone 16e's design, using over 30% recycled content. The packaging aims to eliminate plastic use by year-end.

Pre-orders for the iPhone 16e begin on February 21st with availability starting February 28th. Pricing starts at $599 in the U.S., available in black and white finishes across multiple storage capacities.
