Governor Josh Stein has issued a statement in response to the Office of State Budget and Management's General Fund Revenue Forecast. In his remarks, Governor Stein acknowledged the positive outlook for this year's revenue but expressed concern about potential fiscal challenges ahead.
"While today’s consensus revenue forecast for this year is positive, North Carolina is approaching a fiscal cliff that threatens our ability to invest in rebuilding western North Carolina, strong public schools, people’s health, infrastructure, and other services we need to make North Carolina safer and stronger," said Governor Stein. He emphasized that despite the state's growing economy and population, these challenges should not exist.
Governor Stein also highlighted his commitment to collaborating with the legislature to find solutions that will enable continued investment in North Carolina's future. "I am committed to working with the legislature to develop solutions that allow us to continue to invest in our state’s future," he stated.
