Governor Josh Stein has announced a series of important nominations and appointments to various boards and commissions in North Carolina. Among these are appointments to the Governor's Crime Commission, Historic Hillsborough Commission, and the North Carolina Board of Chiropractic Examiners.
For the Governor's Crime Commission, Stein nominated Erin S. Hucks of Union County as a Chief District Court Judge, Bobby F. Kimbrough of Forsyth County to a Sheriff's seat, and Nisha G. Williams of Durham County as a representative from a domestic or sexual assault program. Hucks is noted for creating the Union County Family Drug Treatment Court, while Kimbrough has served as Forsyth County Sheriff since 2018. Williams works as the Legal Director of the North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
Joseph Petrizzi and Laura Juel from Orange County have been appointed to the Historic Hillsborough Commission. Petrizzi is actively involved in the Chapel Hill Historical Society, and Juel has a role at Duke University Medical Center as a Lead Clinical Evaluator.
To the North Carolina Board of Chiropractic Examiners, Stein appointed Dr. Kenneth Brown of Durham County and Dr. Chad Robertson of Mecklenburg County. Both have established careers in chiropractic care and are active in various professional associations.
In transportation, Graham Bennett of Forsyth County and Theresa Judge of Dare County have been appointed to represent NCDOT Districts 9 and 1, respectively. Bennett has previously held the position of Chairman and CEO at Quality Oil Company, and Judge has a background in hospitality management.
The North Carolina College Foundation Inc. Board of Trustees will see Shannon Trapp of Durham County join as an At-large member. Trapp serves as the Chief of Staff at the Durham County Government.
Governor Stein also appointed Sheriff Willie Rowe and Chief Robert Hassell to the North Carolina Emergency Response Commission. Commissioner Shinica Thomas has been added to the Local Governmental Employees' Retirement System Board, and Raquel Painter has joined the North Carolina Military Affairs Commission representing Onslow County.
Felita Livingston has been appointed to the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board, and The Honorable Teresa H. Vincent to the State Board of Dental Examiners. Dr. Janet Mason has been nominated to the State Board of Education.
Michael Hawkins of Transylvania County has been nominated to the North Carolina Utilities Commission. Stein's appointments to the North Carolina Veterans Affairs Commission include Louis D. Harvin-Ravin, David Grier Martin III, Pastor Charles Thomas Dudley, and Jeff Joyner.
Additionally, Daryl Larimore now represents a hazardous liquid transmission pipeline company on the Underground Damage Prevention Review Board. Larry Wooten will serve on the North Carolina Agricultural Hall of Fame Board of Directors.
These appointments reflect Governor Stein's efforts to fill strategic roles across legal, healthcare, veteran affairs, and transportation sectors in the state.
