Duke Energy has made considerable progress in restoring power to customers affected by recent severe weather in Ohio and Kentucky. As of Friday morning, the company reported restoring power to over 96% of its affected customers. The outages initially impacted 69,000 customers, but the number has decreased to about 2,400, mainly in eastern Hamilton and Clermont counties.
Clint Carnahan, general manager of emergency preparedness at Duke Energy, emphasized the ongoing commitment to customers. "Our crews are working tirelessly, and we’ve made significant progress, but we won’t stop until every last customer who can receive power is back online," said Carnahan. He also expressed gratitude for customer patience.
The restoration process prioritizes repairing large power lines and infrastructure to restore power to the greatest number of people quickly and safely. Once those are addressed, crews focus on neighborhood and home-specific issues. Duke Energy continues to monitor weather forecasts for potential new storms or flooding.
Customers can access real-time outage updates through Duke Energy’s interactive map. Outages can be reported via text by sending "OUT" to 57801 or through the Duke Energy mobile app. More information can also be found on the company’s website or by calling their automated system at 800.POWERON.
