Apple has released visionOS 2.4, an update for the Apple Vision Pro, introducing features powered by Apple Intelligence, to facilitate communication and creative expression. This update emphasizes privacy, with an initial availability for users whose devices and Siri language are set to U.S. English.
The update unveils several new apps and features. The Spatial Gallery app offers a curated collection of spatial content, including art, culture, and sports. Additionally, the Apple Vision Pro app for iPhone facilitates finding new content and enhances the ease of sharing Vision Pro experiences.
New Writing Tools equipped users with capabilities to rewrite, proofread, and summarize text. "With Rewrite, users can adjust the tone of their text to make it more friendly, professional, or concise, or specify the change they’d like to make using Describe Your Change," the release stated. The system-wide Writing Tools include Compose, which allows users to ask ChatGPT to generate content.
Image Playground allows users to create images from themes and personal photos, integrated into apps such as Messages and Freeform. Furthermore, Genmoji offers innovative emoji creation, while Smart Reply provides quick response suggestions in Messages and Mail.
The update also brings natural language search within the Photos app to make locating specific media easier. "Create a Memory Movie lets users create the movies they want to see by simply typing a description."
Apple ensures privacy by keeping user data private and not sharing it. visionOS 2.4 supports on-device processing and Private Cloud Compute, the latter enabling the use of larger models without storing or sharing user data.
Spatial Gallery provides a collection of spatial photos and videos from brands like Red Bull, Cirque du Soleil, and Porsche. The Apple Vision Pro app for iPhone helps users explore new experiences, find apps, and access information about their device.
visionOS 2.4 can also initiate a Guest User session, allowing users to control app accessibility and guide guests through the Vision Pro experience. The VIP: Yankee Stadium documentary debuts on April 4, showcasing the iconic Bronx ballpark. Bono: Stories of Surrender, a film from Apple TV+, will be released on May 30.
The visionOS 2.4 update is free for Apple Vision Pro users in regions like the U.S., Canada, and the UK, but feature availability varies by region.
