The North Carolina Courage announced the signing of forward Hannah Betfort to a two-year contract, with an option for 2027. The agreement will see Betfort join the team through the 2026 NWSL season. The Wake Forest alum and Charleston native played for the Utah Royals in 2024.

Betfort was initially drafted by the Portland Thorns in 2021 and spent three seasons there before being traded to Utah ahead of the 2024 NWSL Expansion Draft. During her time in the league, she has been utilized primarily as an attacking player, recording five goals and creating 18 chances over regular-season play. Her performance peaked in 2024 with two goals, 14 chances created, and a passing accuracy of 81% across 1,674 minutes.

Expressing her enthusiasm about joining NC Courage, Betfort stated, “I am so excited to finally return home to the Carolinas for the opportunity to wear this crest and play for this club. Let’s get to work!”

Courage Head Coach Sean Nahas commented on her addition: “Signing Hannah is great for us. She adds a different dynamic to our front line that maybe we haven’t had. She gives us flexibility and can threaten back lines with her movements, provide energy in our press, and give opposition something different to think about.”

Betfort's collegiate career at Wake Forest saw her excel as both a forward and defender. As a two-time team captain, she earned All-ACC Third Team honors in 2020 after starting as a walk-on player.

Betfort is set to join NC Courage at their preseason training camp next week in Cary, North Carolina.
