Today, Governor Josh Stein, along with Secretary of Natural and Cultural Resources Pamela Cashwell and Secretary of Environmental Quality Reid Wilson, took part in the Earth Day celebrations at Eno River State Park in Durham, North Carolina. The Governor toured the park with Superintendent Kimberly Radewicz and engaged with park rangers, discussing the park's economic and cultural significance.

Governor Stein highlighted the diverse natural attractions of North Carolina, stating, "From the Blue Ridge Mountains to the barrier islands and everywhere in between, like Eno River State Park, North Carolina's natural beauty enriches our quality of life and attracts millions of visitors each year." He emphasized the importance of collective efforts to preserve the state's natural beauty.

Pamela B. Cashwell, Secretary of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, recognized Earth Day as an opportunity to acknowledge the state's 41 parks and recreational areas and the teams responsible for their upkeep. She remarked, “It also serves as a reminder that we all have a role to play in keeping our state's parks and trails in good order.”

Reid Wilson, Secretary of the Department of Environmental Quality, praised community efforts across the state. Wilson noted, "I admire the people across North Carolina who are spending Earth Day working and volunteering within their communities to build a healthier environment."

Previously, as Attorney General, Stein addressed environmental issues by holding polluters accountable for the contamination of the Cape Fear River and securing a significant settlement for coal ash cleanup. Now, as Governor, he remains focused on promoting access to clean air and water and supporting the state's leadership in clean energy.
