Today, Governor Josh Stein declared that the state is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the murder of 49-year-old John Boone. A similar reward is available for information regarding the murder of 14-year-old Jakaylen Chambers.

In January 2022, John Boone was found deceased from a gunshot wound near the intersection of Lakewood Drive and Futrelle Drive in High Point. Boone was known to be deaf and non-verbal. Individuals with details regarding his murder should contact the High Point Police Department, Crime Stoppers of High Point, or the State Bureau of Investigation.

A separate incident occurred in February 2022, when officers responded to a shooting on McPherson Street in Greensboro. They discovered Jakaylen Chambers who later died from gunshot injuries. Authorities urge anyone with information about this case to reach out to the Greensboro Police Department, Greensboro/Guilford Crime Stoppers, or the State Bureau of Investigation.
