The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality's State Energy Office is set to conduct a public hearing regarding the Weatherization Assistance Program's Annual State Plan. The hearing is scheduled for April 17, with opportunities for public participation available both in person and online.

The Weatherization Assistance Program aims to assist low-income and disadvantaged communities throughout North Carolina by aiding in energy conservation, utility bill reduction, and ensuring home safety. Attendees will also have the opportunity to provide feedback on various plans related to the program, including the revised Training & Technical Assistance Plan, Health & Safety Plan, and Weatherization Installation Standard Work Specifications, which are up for consideration.

The hearing will be held on April 17, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the DEQ Green Square Office Building, located at 217 West Jones Street, Raleigh, NC. The event can be accessed online via Webex, with full details provided for those wishing to join remotely. Potential speakers should note that the hearing officer may impose time limits to accommodate all participants.

Comments on the plan can be submitted by mail to the NC DEQ Weatherization Assistance Program or via email with the subject line "2025 Weatherization Comment." The public comment period will remain open from April 7 to April 21, 2025. To be considered, all feedback must be submitted by the deadline.

Interested parties can review the plans on the DEQ's official website or access physical copies at DEQ's regional offices.
