Governor Josh Stein has appointed two new judges to North Carolina's district courts. Tia Hudgins Taylor will serve in Judicial District 8, covering Edgecombe, Nash, and Wilson Counties. The position opened following Judge William Solomon's retirement. Taylor has been working as an associate attorney with Lassiter and Sperati, PLLC. Her academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts from Queens University of Charlotte and a Juris Doctor from Elon University School of Law.

In Judicial District 9, Sonya Davis will step in to fill the vacancy created by Judge Beth Heath's retirement. This district includes Greene, Lenoir, and Wayne Counties. Davis has been a solo practitioner in Kinston, focusing on domestic matters, real estate, and criminal defense. Her educational credentials include a Bachelor of Arts and a Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University School of Law.

Governor Stein expressed confidence in their capabilities. "Tia Hudgins Taylor and Sonya Davis are exceptional attorneys who have dedicated themselves to the practice of the law," he stated. "They will be impartial and hard-working jurists, and I look forward to their service."
