Clemmons Educational State Forest, located in Clayton, has adjusted its hours to accommodate the increased number of visitors during the peak season. As of March 1, the forest is open on weekends and will maintain these summer hours until October 31.

The forest's operating hours are Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. It will also be open on Good Friday and Independence Day but remains closed on Mondays.

Clemmons ESF encourages school groups, homeschoolers, scouts, and others to participate in educational programs offered at the site. These programs cover topics such as forestry, water, soils, and wildlife. A minimum group size of ten students is required for participation, with staff able to accommodate up to approximately 100 students.

Visitors can explore four hiking trails within the forest. The Talking Tree Trail and the Talking Rocks Trail are each slightly over half a mile long. For those interested in longer hikes, the Forest Demonstration Trail spans 2.2 miles, while the Watershed Extension Loop is just under three miles.

The forest offers picnic facilities including individual tables under tree canopies and a large shelter available for reservation for larger gatherings. Restroom facilities are conveniently located nearby.
