The North Carolina Courage faced a narrow defeat against Bay FC with a score of 1-0 on Saturday night at PayPal Park, San Jose. The loss leaves the Courage in fifth place in the league standings with a record of 12 wins, 3 draws, and 10 losses this season.

Both teams had opportunities to score early in the match. Riley Jackson's shot was deflected over the bar, and Kaleigh Kurtz hit the crossbar with a header during a corner kick. Bay FC also threatened with several chances but were thwarted by Casey Murphy's saves and timely defensive plays from the Courage. The first half ended goalless, marking the 16th time this season that North Carolina held their opponents scoreless in the first half—a record that ranks third highest in the NWSL.

In the second half, neither team managed to get a shot until Denise O’Sullivan's attempt for North Carolina narrowly missed its target at minute 70. Bay FC responded with several attempts before being awarded a free kick outside the penalty area due to a foul call. Abby Dahlkemper capitalized on this opportunity by scoring through a deflection in minute 83, giving Bay FC their decisive lead.

In stoppage time, Feli Rauch set up Narumi for what seemed like an equalizing chance from inside the box; however, Katelyn Rowland made an impressive save for Bay FC to maintain their advantage as time expired.

North Carolina will take a break next weekend due to international matches but will resume play against Washington Spirit on November 2nd at WakeMed Soccer Park. This upcoming match is scheduled for broadcast on ION.
