The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) State Energy Office has scheduled a public hearing on April 17, 2025, to review the Weatherization Assistance Program's Annual State Plan. The event is open to the public, who can attend either in person or via an online platform.

The Weatherization Assistance Program targets low-income and disadvantaged communities within North Carolina, assisting residents with energy savings, reducing utility costs, and maintaining home safety. The hearing invites comments not only on the Annual State Plan but also on the revised Training & Technical Assistance Plan, Health & Safety Plan, and Weatherization Installation Standard Work Specifications proposed for adoption.

The hearing will take place at the DEQ Green Square Office Building in Raleigh at 1 p.m. Participants can join online through Webex using the provided meeting details. Additionally, the hearing officer may limit comment lengths due to time constraints.

Public comments can be submitted by mail, email, or in person to the NC DEQ Weatherization Assistance Program. The comment period extends from April 7 through April 21, 2025. Comments must be received by April 21 to be included in the official record.

The plans are accessible online at the DEQ website and in physical format at the department's regional offices.
