Approximately 1,000 Duke Energy customers in West Terre Haute, Indiana, are set to benefit from a free home energy makeover. This initiative is part of the company's Neighborhood Energy Saver Program, which provides eligible customers with a complimentary home energy assessment and up to 16 energy-saving improvements.

The program offers various products at no cost, including energy-efficient lightbulbs, water-saving showerheads and faucet aerators, air conditioning/heating system filters, water heater wraps/pipe wrap, caulking, weatherstripping, and door sweeps.

Rick Burger, Duke Energy Government and Community Relations Manager, emphasized the benefits of the program: “The Neighborhood Energy Saver Program is a great way for us to help our customers save energy, save money and improve their quality of life.” He also noted that participants would learn how to manage their energy costs through efficient practices.

Dave Elkins, president of the West Vigo Community Center, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative: "This is a great opportunity for residents to save money and improve the energy efficiency of their homes,” adding his hope that qualifying residents will participate.

Last year alone saw nearly 1,500 Duke Energy Indiana customers make use of the program's offerings. The company reported installing over 1,000 heating system filters and almost 1,000 low-flow showerheads along with more than 11,000 LED lightbulbs across participating households.

Since its inception in March 2015, more than 12,000 households in Indiana have received these free upgrades under the Neighborhood Energy Saver Program.

Duke Energy Indiana operates as a subsidiary of Duke Energy. It supplies approximately 6,300 megawatts of electric capacity to around 910,000 customers over a service area covering about 23,000 square miles. This makes it the largest electric supplier in Indiana.
