EVgo Inc. and Toyota Motor North America have announced the opening of their first DC fast charging stations in Baldwin Park and Sacramento, California. These stations are part of Toyota's "Empact" vision, which aims to enhance public charging infrastructure for electric vehicles (EVs). The new co-branded stations, operated by EVgo, feature 350kW fast chargers and can serve up to eight vehicles simultaneously.

Scott Levitan, Executive Vice President of Growth at EVgo, emphasized the importance of available charging options as consumers consider purchasing or leasing EVs. He stated that collaboration with automakers like Toyota has been crucial to EVgo's expansion efforts.

Toyota's "Empact" vision was initially announced in April 2023 and focuses on providing access to charging infrastructure, affordable mobility solutions, and reducing carbon emissions. James George, General Manager of EV Charging Solutions at Toyota Motor North America, highlighted the company's commitment to supporting broader access to charging for all battery electric vehicle drivers.

The new stations are strategically located in areas with easy access to amenities such as grocery stores and shopping malls. In addition to this collaboration, EVgo has extended its program with Toyota that offers one year of complimentary charging for those who purchase or lease the 2025 Toyota bZ4X battery electric vehicle.

State Senator Angelique Ashby from Sacramento praised the initiative as a significant step toward sustainable mobility in her district. State Assemblywoman Blanca Rubio from Baldwin Park also welcomed the new station as beneficial for local residents needing convenient charging options.
