Lenovo has introduced its new AI inferencing server, the ThinkEdge SE100, designed to make edge AI more accessible and affordable for small and medium-sized businesses as well as larger enterprises. The announcement was made at MWC25, where Lenovo showcased a range of cost-effective, sustainable, and scalable hybrid AI solutions.
The ThinkEdge SE100 is compact yet powerful, offering GPU-ready performance in a design that is 85% smaller than traditional models. This makes it suitable for deployment in various environments without sacrificing performance. According to Scott Tease, Vice President of Lenovo Infrastructure Solutions Group, Products, "The Lenovo ThinkEdge SE100 is a high-performance, low-latency platform for inferencing. Its compact and cost-effective design is easily tailored to diverse business needs across a broad range of industries."
The edge market is expected to grow significantly by 2030, with an annual growth rate of nearly 37%. Lenovo aims to lead this expansion with its extensive portfolio of edge computing infrastructure. The company has shipped over a million edge systems globally and achieved consistent growth in edge revenue.
The ThinkEdge SE100 offers adaptability for different settings such as desktops and wall mounts. It supports hybrid cloud deployments and machine learning tasks like object detection while maintaining data security through features like USB port disabling and disk encryption.
Jeff Ready, CEO and co-founder of Scale Computing, highlighted the collaboration between Lenovo and Scale Computing: "Together, Lenovo and Scale Computing are delivering innovative, enterprise-grade solutions to customers worldwide." He emphasized the ThinkEdge SE100's role in redefining how businesses deploy scalable infrastructure.
The server also supports various industry applications. Retailers can use it for inventory management or loss prevention; manufacturers can enhance quality assurance; healthcare professionals can improve process automation; energy companies can optimize power logistics.
Lenovo's Open Cloud Automation (LOC-A) simplifies deployment by reducing costs up to 47% while saving resources and time by up to 60%. The ThinkEdge SE100 also focuses on energy efficiency with system power staying under 140W even when fully equipped with GPUs.
Overall, Lenovo continues its commitment to providing adaptable AI solutions that support sustainability goals while transforming industries. The ThinkEdge SE100 is part of the new ThinkSystem V4 Servers Powered by Intel Xeon 6 Processors which include innovations like Neptune liquid cooling technology.
