This week, Governor Josh Stein and the North Carolina Department of Commerce announced initiatives expected to create over 800 new jobs in rural areas of North Carolina. The collaboration involves five companies and the NC Rural Infrastructure Authority.
Governor Stein expressed enthusiasm about the development, stating, “I am excited to see over 800 new jobs coming to small town North Carolina.” He emphasized the potential of rural North Carolina's manufacturing workforce and the benefits for companies investing in these communities. "We want not only to continue to grow North Carolina’s economy but also to share that growth to every corner of the state,” he added.
Lee Lilley, Secretary of Commerce for North Carolina, shared his personal connection with rural areas, saying, “I was born and raised in rural North Carolina, so I know that there are great opportunities for companies to expand in every community in this state.” He reaffirmed the state's commitment to pursuing job creation across all regions.
The investments include Syntec Precision Technology Corporation establishing its first North American facility in Vance County with an $8 million investment creating 34 jobs. Pennsylvania Transformer Technology, LLC plans a significant expansion in Hoke County with more than $102.5 million invested and 217 new jobs. Chatsworth Products, Inc will expand its New Bern facility by adding 45 jobs with an $11 million investment. Provalus is set to open a Center of Excellence in Edenton, bringing 61 jobs and investing $6.48 million into Chowan County. Barrier Fencing Supply will establish a headquarters and manufacturing center in Columbus County creating 151 positions.
Additionally, the NC Rural Infrastructure Authority has approved grants resulting in the creation of 785 jobs across local governments.
