North Carolina Courage announces preseason roster for 2025 NWSL season

The North Carolina Courage has announced its 35-player preseason roster as the team begins training camp for the upcoming 2025 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) season. The roster includes 29 players under contract and six non-roster invitees.

Among the contracted players, 28 are active while defender Sydney Collins remains on the season-ending injury list due to an ankle injury sustained last year. Estelle Johnson has opted out of a post-maternity leave invitation to training camp in accordance with the new collective bargaining agreement.

The Courage is utilizing five of their six available international spots, having traded one spot to San Diego Wave FC in exchange for midfielder Jaedyn Shaw. Shaw, along with Casey Murphy, Ashley Sanchez, and Ryan Williams, joined the team following their participation in the USWNT January camp. Midfielder Riley Jackson also joined after attending the futures camp.

The roster is organized by position:

Defenders: Maycee Bell, Malia Berkely, Sydney Collins (SEI), Brooklyn Courtnall, Emerson Elgin (NRI), Kaleigh Kurtz, Charlotte McLean (INT), Felicitas Rauch (INT), Natalia Staude, Ryan Williams

Midfielders: Riley Jackson, Shinomi Koyama (INT), Jillian Martinez (NRI), Amber Nguyen (NRI), Denise O’Sullivan, Victoria Pickett, Brianna Pinto, Ashley Sanchez, Jaedyn Shaw, Meredith Speck, Dani Weatherholt

Forwards: Hannah Betfort, Aline Gomes (INT), Haley Hopkins, Tyler Lussi, Grayson Lynch (NRI), Manaka Matsukubo (INT), Heather MacNab (NRI), Bianca St-Georges, Cortnee Vine (INT), Olivia Wingate
