The North Carolina Courage concluded their NWSL regular season with a narrow 0-1 defeat against the Washington Spirit at WakeMed Soccer Park. The match drew a crowd of 10,026, marking the second-largest regular season attendance in the club's history since relocating to North Carolina in 2017.
Ashley Hatch scored the decisive goal for the Spirit in the 37th minute, delivering a long-range shot that found the back of the net. Despite a strong second-half performance from the Courage, including substitutions such as Denise O’Sullivan and Ashley Sanchez, they were unable to find an equalizer. Tyler Lussi came close to leveling the score in the 58th minute but was denied by an offside call.
Looking ahead, the North Carolina Courage are set to face Kansas City Current in the NWSL quarterfinals on Saturday, November 9, at 12 p.m. ET. The match will be available on CBS and streamed on Paramount+.
Notably, Kaleigh Kurtz and Casey Murphy completed every minute of play this season for North Carolina Courage, with Kurtz achieving this milestone for three consecutive seasons.
