County of Wake issued the following announcement on Nov. 14.
Looking for a free game that’s fun for the whole family? Curious to learn what happens once our garbage and recycling leave the curb? Interested in local resources to lead a more sustainable lifestyle?
November 15 is America Recycles Day, and Wake County is celebrating all month long with a virtual game of bingo that’s all that and more! Plus, once you’ve got five in a row, you can claim a free reusable metal straw – complete with cleaning brush and convenient carrying pouch – and you’ll be entered to win an Earth Machine compost bin from the Wake County Solid Waste Management Division.
“America Recycles Day bingo is always a big hit, and we expect to see even more winners this year since we added a free space to the card,” said Sara Davarbakhsh, environmental education program coordinator. “Even if you played last year, there’s plenty more to learn! There are lots of ways to get bingo, so challenge yourself to complete different squares and learn new things!”
To get started, just head to wakegov.com/ARDbingo to download a virtual bingo card and check off spaces as you complete various recycling-related activities. Once you’ve marked five in a row – either vertically, horizontally or diagonally – that’s bingo! Activities include recycling plastic bags at the grocery store, learning how to compost at home, taking virtual tours of our local landfill and recycling facilities, and more.
We celebrate America Recycles Day on Nov. 15, but you have all month to complete your virtual bingo card. Submit cards by Wednesday, Nov. 30, to recycling@wakegov.com. One card per household. Wake County residents only.
