COUNTY OF WAKE: Third-Party Groups to Send Voter Registration Forms to Wake County Residents

County of Wake issued the following announcement on Aug. 30.

Two voter advocacy organizations will begin sending mailings to Wake County residents over the next few weeks to encourage them to register and/or request an absentee ballot for the November 2022 election.

The mailings from the Voter Participation Center (VPC) and the Center for Voter Information (CVI) will include the official North Carolina Registration Form and Absentee Ballot Request Form for 2022, along with a postage-paid return envelope to send the application to the Wake County Board of Elections. The groups state that the goal of these mailings is to foster “registration and voting by under-represented populations in the American electorate.”

The Wake County Board of Elections welcomes efforts to engage voters and promote voter participation, however, recognizes that unsolicited mailings have the potential to cause confusion or suspicion, since the government forms are not being mailed or coordinated by a government agency. The Wake County Board of Elections only uses mass mailings to send voter registration postcards when voting precincts or polling places are adjusted.

Wake County election officials wish to remind voters:

  • Routinely check your registration status and voting details at ReadytoVote.com and click the blue “Voter Info” button near the top of the webpage.

  • If you want to vote in-person during the November election, either during Early Voting or on Election Day, November 8, 2022, you do not need to do anything and may simply discard the mailing.

  • For information about registering to vote, go to ReadytoVote.com and click the blue “Voter Info” button near the top of the page. The deadline to register for the November 8 general election is October 14.
