Rolesville Police Department issued the following announcement on Mar. 4.
The Rolesville Police Department will host its bi-annual “Operation Medicine Drop” on Saturday, April 30th from 9am -1pm, located at 204 Southtown Circle. To make it convenient for our participants there is a drive thru stationed at the side of the police building with Rolesville Police Officers on hand to retrieve meds and dispose of safely.
Operation Medicine Drop helps prevent accidental poisonings and drug abuse, while also protecting local rivers and streams. The service is free, anonymous and convenient for the citizens in the Wake County area. All medications collected during the drop off event is secured by law enforcement and destroyed by incineration through a SBI location.
The following items are NOT acceptable for disposal: Liquids* Ointments* Epipens* Inhalers* Needles
A reminder to parents and caregivers to do the following:
• Keep medications locked up and out of reach of children.
• Always read labels, follow directions and give medication to children based on weight and ages.
• Avoid taking medication in front of children
• Medicine should never be referred to as candy.
• If you suspect poisoning, call 911. Otherwise for questions or concerns call the National Poison Help hotline at 1-800-222-1222.
