Some business owners in downtown Raleigh are optimistic that museums' reopening will help drum up more revenue for them, CBS 17 reported.
"Bringing more people downtown will be a great thing for us," Steve Hunt, who owns The Big Easy restaurant, told CBS 17 for a Sept. 2 report. "If you can tell, right now, it's an afternoon where there's a lot of hustle and bustle, and it's been pretty quiet."
Still, the quiet comes after riots damaged local businesses, including some downtown.
"That's been a real heartbreaking thing to see, you know? A lot of people, including myself, reboarded up this past weekend and made it another empty downtown besides of the protesting that was going on," Hunt told CBS 17. "It's a real eerie feeling. It has been this last couple of months."
But all hope isn't lost. Considering the news that local museums are reopening their doors, some business owners are happy about more traffic in the area, even if the capacity is capped at 50%.
"We're really excited to have downtown reopening safely," Ella Graber told CBS 17 while shopping with her mom. "And with the museums opening, we're excited it will bring back business to the local businesses that have been suffering."
