The University of North Carolina System has announced the 36 participants selected for the sixth cohort of its Executive Leadership Institute. This 10-month program aims to cultivate future leaders within the UNC System.

The newly named participants include Dr. Jay Aikat from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Shelby Bass from the UNC System Office, and Myra Blow from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, among others. Each participant holds a significant position within their respective institutions.

The Executive Leadership Institute was established in 2019 to enhance leadership capabilities at the executive level across the UNC System. The program comprises five interactive and experiential immersion modules delivered through a hybrid format that includes both virtual and face-to-face instruction at various campuses such as UNC-Chapel Hill, N.C. A&T State University, and UNC Charlotte. Additionally, team and individual executive coaching is provided in partnership with UNC Wilmington.

UNC System President Peter Hans commented on the initiative: “We have so much talent among our faculty and staff. It makes sense that we put our time and resources into building new leaders for the university. The Executive Leadership Institute is an investment in our collective future.”

Graduates from this program will have opportunities to mentor future cohorts, ensuring ongoing development of promising talent throughout the system. Further details about the program can be found on the Executive Leadership Institute’s website.
