The University of North Carolina System announced on March 12 that it has joined the U.S. Census Bureau’s Postsecondary Employment Outcomes (PSEO) initiative, aiming to provide students and families with clearer information about career and earnings prospects after graduation.

The move is intended to help prospective students and their families better understand the value and return on investment of a college degree from the UNC System. The PSEO initiative offers an interactive database that shows employment and earnings outcomes for graduates across various academic programs.

With support from the North Carolina Department of Commerce, the UNC System’s participation in this federal program will allow users to explore data comparing career results one, five, and ten years after graduation. The tool also enables comparisons between bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree holders.

“North Carolina has a growing, dynamic economy, and our public universities offer great pathways to a fulfilling career,” said UNC System President Peter Hans. “This will help students explore their options and find a degree program that matches their interests and ambitions. We are grateful to the North Carolina Department of Commerce for its support.”

The decision reflects an ongoing effort by the UNC System to demonstrate the tangible benefits of its degrees as students consider their educational futures.
