UNC Board of Governors schedules virtual special session for January 29

The University of North Carolina Board of Governors has scheduled a special session for 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2026. In addition to the main meeting, four special committee meetings are set for Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

These sessions are classified as special meetings to allow board members to participate virtually. The virtual meetings will be hosted from the UNC System Office at 223 S. West Street, Suite 1800 in Raleigh, North Carolina. The full schedule for the week is available on the UNC System’s website.

Parts of the meetings will be accessible to the public through an online livestream providing simultaneous audio and video coverage. The livestream can be accessed here.

According to the announcement, “If any technical difficulty with the video stream is encountered, the video will be disabled for members and the public, and the meetings will be conducted and streamed in audio format only.” Some agenda items may also be discussed in closed session as allowed by state Open Meetings Law.
