Turkish Airlines has chosen Red Hat to aid its transformation into a data- and AI-driven organization. This collaboration was announced at the Red Hat Summit in Boston on May 20, 2025. The airline aims to improve dynamic pricing, fraud prevention, and fuel consumption using Red Hat OpenShift AI.

Serdar Gürbüz, General Manager of Turkish Technology, a subsidiary of Turkish Airlines, emphasized the benefits of platforms like Red Hat OpenShift AI: “Platforms like Red Hat OpenShift AI allow us to keep data on-premises while accelerating model development and enabling business units to leverage AI capabilities in a flexible way.”

Turkish Airlines operates an extensive global network with flights to 353 destinations across various continents. With nearly 90,000 employees, it serves both B2C and B2B segments. The airline sought scalability through open source AI platforms to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

The partnership with Red Hat Consulting allowed Turkish Airlines to implement a Red Hat OpenShift AI environment integrated with existing systems. This integration included custom development environments and automated deployment for AI models. Project scaling is now automatic due to provisioning and autoscaling capabilities.

AI initiatives at Turkish Airlines include over 60 live models with more than 40 in development. Over 200 employees are engaged in AI-based development. Haluk Tekin, Country Manager for Türkiye and CIS at Red Hat, stated: “Creating citizen data scientists is a crucial achievement to enterprise-wide AI adoption.”

Gürbüz further noted the strategic role of AI: “As Turkish Airlines continues its journey to becoming a fully data-driven organization, our focus is on embedding AI across every aspect of the business.” He highlighted the secure infrastructure built on open architectures as essential for this transformation.

Red Hat’s vision emphasizes limitless opportunities for deploying any model across any cloud without infrastructure constraints. This aligns with Turkish Airlines’ goals as they work towards becoming an organization where employees can lead their own projects using AI tools.
