Toyota has secured its 10th Formula DRIFT Auto Cup title after the season finale in Long Beach, California. This marks the manufacturer’s second consecutive Auto Cup win and its fourth in the past five seasons.
Fredric Aasbo, a three-time Formula DRIFT PRO champion, played a leading role for Toyota this season. He started the year with a win at Long Beach and reached final rounds in Atlanta and Englishtown. Jhonnattan Castro achieved his best season to date, advancing to the final round in Orlando and making several appearances in the ‘Great 8’ round. Other Toyota drivers, Ken Gushi and Ryan Tuerck, also won rounds during the eight-event season, contributing to Toyota’s overall victory.
Paul Doleshal, general manager of sponsorships and motorsports at Toyota Motor North America (TMNA), said: “To be celebrating our 10th Formula DRIFT Auto Cup is truly astounding and is a monumental feat for Toyota. We couldn’t be more thankful nor prouder of our teams and drivers for what they’ve accomplished this season, adding another chapter to Toyota’s legendary success across global motorsports. We look forward to much more drifting success in the years to come.”
Toyota began its involvement in Formula DRIFT with Scion branding, winning three consecutive Auto Cup titles from 2014 to 2016. The company added three more championships between 2017 and 2019, then secured further titles in 2021, 2022, and 2024 before this year’s championship. Currently, models such as the Toyota GR Supra, GR Corolla Hatchback, and GR86 represent the brand in competition.
Toyota has been active in the United States for nearly seven decades. The company employs almost 48,000 people nationwide who have contributed to designing, engineering, and assembling over 35 million vehicles at its 11 manufacturing plants. In 2025, Toyota began assembling automotive batteries for electrified vehicles at its North Carolina plant.
