Toyota is set to introduce a new edition of its Prius Plug-in Hybrid for 2026. The Nightshade Edition aims to bring a fresh, bold look to the Prius lineup with distinctive black accents and 19-inch black-finished alloy wheels. Available in three colors—Karashi, Wind Chill Pearl, and Midnight Black Metallic—the Nightshade Edition offers an enhanced design that sets it apart from other models.

The new Prius Plug-in Hybrid will be available in four grades: SE, XSE, Nightshade Edition, and XSE Premium. With a manufacturer-estimated all-electric driving range of up to 44 miles on the SE grade and up to 40 miles on other grades, this model maintains Toyota’s focus on efficiency. The hybrid system combines a 2.0-liter engine with electric motor generators for a combined rating of up to 52 MPG.

Charging the vehicle is straightforward; it can be plugged into a standard household outlet using the supplied dual-voltage cable or recharged more quickly with a Level 2 charger. Additionally, the vehicle offers multiple driving modes such as EV Mode, Auto EV/HV Mode, and Hybrid Mode.

Inside, the Prius Plug-in Hybrid features various amenities including Toyota’s Audio Multimedia system and Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 as standard across all grades. The SE grade includes dark grey alloy wheels and an eight-inch touchscreen display among other features. Upgrades are available on higher trims such as machine-finished alloy wheels and premium audio systems.

Safety features come standard with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite which includes Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist among others.

The new Prius Plug-in Hybrid is expected at dealerships this summer starting at $33,775 for the SE grade excluding processing fees.
