Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) has announced a significant executive change effective June 2, as part of its strategy to enhance growth and commitment to vehicle electrification. Dawn Pittman Collins, currently serving as assistant general counsel, TL1, will be promoted to group vice president and chief compliance and ethics officer at TMNA. This promotion follows the retirement of Jacqueline Thomas on July 18.
Collins will report directly to Ted Ogawa, president and CEO of TMNA. Her responsibilities will include providing strategic direction and leadership over internal audit, compliance and ethics, regulatory compliance, and customs/trade compliance. She is also set to serve as an advisor to the TMNA Audit Committee and the Risk Committee.
In her previous role as assistant general counsel, Collins managed multiple teams handling litigation claims to mitigate risks for Toyota and Lexus brands. She also advised on various safety, mobility projects, partnerships/joint ventures, and new business initiatives.
Toyota has been part of the U.S. cultural landscape for nearly seven decades, with a focus on sustainable mobility through its Toyota and Lexus brands alongside approximately 1,500 dealerships. The company employs nearly 48,000 people in the U.S., contributing to the production of over 35 million vehicles at its 11 manufacturing plants.
By spring 2025, Toyota’s North Carolina plant will start manufacturing automotive batteries for electrified vehicles. The automaker offers 32 electrified vehicle options—more than any other automaker.
