Sunset Road Fire in Brunswick County reaches 83% containment

The Sunset Road Fire in Brunswick County, which started on May 2 due to a debris burn, is now reported to be 83% contained. The fire has affected an area of 1,331 acres. As of May 13, the N.C. Forest Service Incident Management Team will transfer control back to local Forest Service personnel.

A Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) remains active from the surface up to 3,000 feet and includes a prohibition on drone flights within this zone. Details are available at https://tfr.faa.gov/tfr3/?page=detail_5_8047.

The N.C. Forest Service expressed gratitude towards the various cooperators involved in the firefighting efforts and acknowledged the support from Brunswick County and Boiling Spring Lakes.
