4.3% of citizens unemployed in Wake County in 2021

Wake County recorded an unemployment rate of 4.3% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That’s 26,589 people out of the 1,112,883 living in Wake County at the time, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The unemployment rate in Wake County has increased compared to the 4.2% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in Wake County was less than the statewide unemployment rate of 5.2%.

Of the 588,688 people who had a job during that time, 952 were employed in the Armed Forces and 587,736 belonged to the civilian labor force.
