TOWN OF FUQUAY-VARINA: Christmas Parade Detour Route and Temporary Street Closures

Source of Fuquay-Varina issued the following announcement on Dec. 2. 

Due to the upcoming Fuquay-Varina Annual Christmas Parade as hosted by the Fuquay-Varina Chamber of Commerce held on Sunday, December 5, 2021, the following roads will be temporarily closed starting at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 5, 2021 and will stay closed until no later than 6 p.m. that day.  Please make note of the attached detour route and impacted areas.  Once the parade starts, no vehicles will enter or leave the parade area.

• US 401 will be closed from Ennis St. through W. Spring St.  (Entire Downtown Business District).  Traffic southbound on US 401 will be diverted to Ennis St. to NC 55 or Ennis St. south to E. Spring St. then right on E. Spring St. and back to US 401.  Traffic northbound on US 401 will be diverted at W. Spring St. to Spring Ave. then to NC 42 Hwy west bound.

• Traffic eastbound on NC 42 Hwy wanting to go south will be diverted to Spring Ave. southbound then a left on Sunset Dr. and back to US 401.  Traffic eastbound on NC 42 Hwy wanting to go north should take Railroad St. then left on Wake Chapel Rd., right on Fayetteville St., right on NC 55 Hwy and then right on Ennis St. to US 401.

• It is recommended that all traffic that is not traveling to the Downtown area to utilize Judd Parkway around Fuquay-Varina.

• All vehicles on the parade route must me moved no later than 1 p.m.  Vehicles that are not removed will be towed at the owner’s expense.  No on street parking is allowed on the parade route.
