The NC IDEA Foundation recently awarded a series of microgrants to 16 North Carolina startups, including Substantial Media, LLC, out of Knightdale.
The individual grants of approximately $10,000 are meant to assist smaller, new organizations and businesses “validate and advance” their ideas, the NC IDEA foundation said in a release about the financial awards.
“Spanning cleantech to consumer products to medical devices and software, this group is a great representation of the diverse economic potential of the state,” NC IDEA Foundation president and CEO Thom Ruhe said in the release. “For many of these young companies, it is their first external validation that they are pursuing something that can become a great company; and it is very rewarding for us to help them on that journey.”
Substantial is an organization seeking to leverage all forms of media — both traditional and modern — to “amplify the positive stories within Black and brown communities,” according to its website.
