Town of Holly Springs issued the following announcement on Apr. 8.

Utley Creek Greenway Project Moves Forward

The Utley Creek Greenway project is moving forward with construction expected to begin later this year, thanks to the Holly Springs Town Council. The project will use an existing pedestrian tunnel beneath N.C. 55 to connect downtown Holly Springs with a greenway in the Morgan Park subdivision off Avent Ferry Road.

At its April 7 virtual meeting, the council approved a budget amendment for the project, allowing right of way acquisition and other work to progress.

Also at the meeting, the council approved the Fiscal Year 2020-2021 Strategic Plan Update, which outlines the Town’s vision, priority areas, goals and initiatives that are designed to meet the current service needs of the community and prepare for the future. The council also approved an extension for United Community Bank to submit construction drawings.
