The State Emergency Response Commission (SERC) is set to have its upcoming meeting on Friday, April 25, 2025. Attendees will include some members in person at the State Emergency Operations Center in Raleigh and others who will join through video conference.

The meeting will be available to the public via a livestream link, accessible at ncdps.gov/news-conference. The key responsibility of the 23-member SERC is to safeguard the state’s citizens and environment through effective emergency planning.

Scheduled to begin at 9 a.m., the meeting’s agenda includes a call to order followed by the approval of meeting minutes from July 26, 2024. New business will cover introductions of new members, and a charter and plan vote for the Statewide Interoperability Executive Committee led by Greg Hauser from NCEM Operations. The NC Hazardous Materials Program Update and LEPC Reauthorization will be addressed by Garry McCormick, Sarah Robison, and Cole Owen of NCEM Operations. Additional topics include an update on “Helene” by Justin Graney from NCEM External Affairs, and SERC Association/Agency Reports featuring the NC Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

A closed session is scheduled for sensitive discussions related to privileged or confidential information, as outlined by North Carolina and United States law.

The meeting will conclude with adjournment at 11 a.m., with a note that special meetings may be convened by the Chairperson as required, and the agenda remains subject to change.
