State Emergency Response Commission schedules July meeting for emergency planning updates

The State Emergency Response Commission is scheduled to meet on Friday, July 18, 2025. Some members will attend in person at the State Emergency Operations Center in Raleigh, while others will join via video conference.

The meeting can be viewed live through a stream available at ncdps.gov/news-conference.

The commission, consisting of 23 members, is tasked with safeguarding citizens and the environment through effective emergency planning.

Details of the meeting are as follows:

– Location: State Emergency Operations Center – Situation Room, 1636 Gold Star Drive, Raleigh.
– Date and Time: Friday, July 18, 2025, at 9 a.m.

The agenda includes:

– Call to Order
– Approval of April 25 Meeting Minutes
– New Member Introductions
– SERC Bylaws Update and Vote
– THIRA/SPR Update by Steve Davis from NCEM Homeland Security
– Reports from various associations including the NC Association of Fire Chiefs and NC State Highway Patrol

A closed session will occur at 10:15 a.m. to discuss sensitive public security information not considered a public record according to North Carolina law. The meeting is expected to adjourn by 11:00 a.m.

It was noted that the next regular SERC meeting is set for October 17, 2025. Special meetings may be called by the Chairperson if necessary.
