The North Carolina Coastal Resources Commission (CRC) is scheduled to hold its regular business meeting on November 19 and 20 at the Beaufort Hotel, located at 2440 Lennoxville Road in Beaufort. The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. on November 19 and continue at 9 a.m. the following day.

A public input and comment period is set for November 20 at 9:05 a.m., during which individuals may speak for up to three minutes each, depending on the chair’s discretion. Members of the public can attend the CRC meeting either in person or online.

Before the CRC convenes, the Coastal Resources Advisory Council (CRAC) will meet in person at the same location on November 19 at 10 a.m.

Agenda items for November 19 include consideration of variance requests from petitioners in Carolina Beach regarding artificial turf within a buffer zone, as well as sandbag alignment and size issues involving multiple parties in Ocean Isle Beach. The commission will also conduct an annual review of rules, discuss updates related to hurricanes and storms expected in 2025, and address concerns about threatened structures.

On November 20, topics include approval of the Topsail Beach Management Plan, review timelines for regulatory updates under state administrative code sections, proposed amendments concerning septic tanks seaward of vegetation lines, alternative sandbag designs for road protection, objections and amendments related to Jockey’s Ridge Area of Environmental Concern (AEC), updates on inlet hazard area boundaries, erosion rates and setbacks for ocean erodible areas, legal matters, officer elections, and scheduling meetings for 2026.
