Red Hat has announced the winners of its 2025 APAC Innovation Awards for Singapore, recognizing DBS Bank and the Digital and Intelligence Service (DIS) for their use of open source technologies to drive innovation and transformation.

The awards highlight organizations that have used Red Hat’s solutions to create significant business impact. Marjet Andriesse, senior vice president and general manager, APJC, Red Hat, said: “The pace of change in Asia Pacific shows no signs of slowing, especially as AI becomes a core driver of business transformation. Despite these demands, our customers have delivered remarkable results, showing that innovation thrives when paired with open source. The Red Hat APAC Innovation Awards 2025 are an opportune time to recognise and celebrate these achievements, highlighting how our customers are unlocking what’s next and shaping a future defined by creativity, resilience, and impact.”

Research from International Data Corporation (IDC), sponsored by Red Hat and Intel, projects that by 2030 artificial intelligence will contribute $19.9 trillion in global economic value—about 3.5% of global GDP. This growth is expected to come largely from enterprises integrating AI into their operations.

This year’s awards recognize 30 winners across the region for using Red Hat’s open source technologies in ways that foster innovation and deliver value to industries and customers. The five award categories include Digital Transformation, Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure, Cloud-native Development, Automation, and the newly introduced AI & Emerging Tech.

In the AI & Emerging Tech category, DBS Bank was recognized for re-platforming its digital assets custodian operations onto Red Hat OpenShift with confidential containers. This deployment aims to provide a scalable and secure foundation for digital asset services while reducing operational risk. Ang Li Khim, Group Head at DBS Bank Institutional Banking Group Technology stated: “Our collaboration with Red Hat on the production deployment of confidential containers on our digital assets infrastructure has enabled us to innovate at greater speed and scale, providing secure and resilient services to our customers. This further underscores our belief that open technologies will be key to driving the next wave of financial innovation.”

The DIS—the fourth service branch of the Singapore Armed Forces—was also recognized in this category for its efforts in adopting cloud computing and AI as essential components in defense operations. The organization established the SAF C4 & Digitalisation Command (SAFC4DC) to accelerate digitalization across its technology stack. ME7 Guo Jinghua, Commander at SAFC4DC said: “The Digitalisation of the SAF is mission-critical for the SAF to realise our vision of SAF 2040. Cloud, software and AI have become crucial warfighting capabilities for the SAF, equal to the advanced platforms the SAF deploys in the land, air and maritime domains. To build and deploy the advanced digital capabilities we need, the DIS is deepening our partnership with the Defence Technology Community, and collaborations with industry innovators such as Red Hat. We will deploy and integrate leading commercial capabilities into our environments to scale defence AI capabilities for the SAF’s operational edge.  We hope our efforts will inspire further collaboration across the defence ecosystem to advance innovation and resilience in the digital domain.”

The awards underscore how organizations are leveraging open source solutions not only to improve their competitiveness but also to address new challenges through technological advancement.
