Red Hat recognizes Chinese firms advancing innovation with open source at APAC Innovation Awards

Red Hat has announced the winners of its APAC Innovation Awards 2025 for China, recognizing organizations that have used open source technologies to drive innovation and transformation in their industries. The awards highlight achievements by KOSTAL Group, ERGO China Life Insurance, Procter & Gamble (China) Ltd, and HSBC Bank (China) Company Limited.

The event aims to showcase how companies are using Red Hat’s open source solutions to address rapid technological changes in Asia Pacific, particularly as artificial intelligence becomes a key factor in business transformation. Marjet Andriesse, senior vice president and general manager for APJC at Red Hat, said: “The pace of change in Asia Pacific shows no signs of slowing, especially as AI becomes a core driver of business transformation. Despite these demands, our customers have delivered remarkable results, showing that innovation thrives when paired with open source. The Red Hat APAC Innovation Awards 2025 are an opportune time to recognize and celebrate these achievements, highlighting how our customers are unlocking what’s next and shaping a future defined by creativity, resilience, and impact.”

Recent research from International Data Corporation (IDC), sponsored by Red Hat and Intel, projects that AI will contribute $19.9 trillion to global economic value by 2030—equivalent to 3.5% of global GDP—with much of this growth coming from enterprises integrating AI into their operations.

This year’s awards were given across five categories: Digital Transformation, Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure, Cloud-native Development, Automation—and the newly added AI & Emerging Tech category.

KOSTAL (Shanghai) Management Co., Ltd., recognized under Digital Transformation and Cloud-Native Development categories, built a secure data platform using Red Hat’s enterprise-grade open source solutions. This initiative supported system integration and digitalization efforts while improving production efficiency within the automotive sector. Zhou Min of KOSTAL Group stated: “At KOSTAL, building a secure and reliable private cloud is essential for ensuring smooth business operations and sustainable growth. Through our collaboration with Red Hat, we accelerated the deployment of key systems, established a solid foundation for processing large volumes of production data and implementing intelligent projects, and laid the groundwork for applying AI technologies based on private domain data.”

ERGO China Life Insurance received honors in the AI & Emerging Tech category after launching an AI platform leveraging Red Hat’s cloud-native tools for centralized GPU resource management. Dou Yonggang from ERGO China Life Insurance commented: “By working with Red Hat, we have built a unified AI platform that centralizes GPU resources. This has not only significantly improved utilization and reduced hardware costs but also enabled more business units to benefit from AI. This project has already enhanced the daily work of over 200 employees, and we believe it will continue to strengthen our ability to deliver new, AI-driven experiences for customers across China.”

Procter & Gamble (P&G) Technology Innovation Co., Ltd was recognized in Automation for its use of Red Hat Enterprise Linux to automate infrastructure management processes. Zhao Xu at P&G noted: “Automation has been key to strengthening the reliability and efficiency of our IT operations. By working with Red Hat, we have been able to simplify infrastructure management accelerate system deployment,and reduce risks tied to manual processes all while delivering a smoother user experience.This journey has also encouraged more collaborationand innovation through open source practices helping us builda stronger foundationfor P&G’s digital future.”

HSBC Bank (China) Company Limited was awarded in Automation as well after adopting automation tools including Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform which improved operational efficiency,reduced risk,and strengthened security.Hu Wen Hao,Vice President at HSBC Bank(China),said:“Strengthening securityand stabilityis critical fora bankof our scale,and automationhas allowedus to achieve thiswith greater speedand precision.Automated upgradesand patchingreduce riskwhile boosting efficiency,givingour teamsmore confidenceto supportthe businessand our customers.At thesame time,we believethat opensource technologiesand collaborationcan raise the barfor the entire financial services industryin China driving sharedinnovationand resilience.”

These awards underscore how organizations are leveraging open source software such as Red Hat OpenShift, Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux across sectors like automotive manufacturing insurance consumer goods,and banking.
