Red Hat has announced a new offering, Red Hat Enterprise Linux for Business Developers, aimed at simplifying access to its enterprise Linux platform for business development and testing. This self-service option is available through the Red Hat Developer Program and provides no-cost access to help development teams build, test, and iterate applications on the same platform used in production systems across hybrid cloud environments.

The complexity of IT continues to grow with applications deployed across various sites, mingling with AI and cloud-native workloads. The cybersecurity landscape also presents challenges with increasing software vulnerabilities and supply chain attacks. Red Hat’s latest offering addresses these issues by providing developers with self-serve access to enterprise-ready content within their businesses.

Key features include simplified access allowing up to 25 instances per registered user, curated developer content including open source programming languages and tools, and powerful container tooling with Podman Desktop. Users can purchase optional support subscriptions for additional assistance.

Developers outside traditional IT can now more easily start projects using Red Hat Enterprise Linux, building on a platform approved for production use. This reduces friction between development and operations teams.

This new offering complements existing options like the no-cost Red Hat Developer Subscription for Individuals and the Enterprise Linux Developer Subscription for Teams available through account representatives or partners.

Gunnar Hellekson, vice president and general manager of Red Hat Enterprise Linux at Red Hat stated: “Modern developers need to be able to move at their own pace…Red Hat Enterprise Linux for Business Developers helps empower developers…giving them a more consistent, reliable foundation that aligns with the business’ demands for production-readiness.”

Red Hat Enterprise Linux for Business Developers is now generally available.
