Red Hat has announced the winners of its APAC Innovation Awards 2025 for India, recognizing Indian Bank, Tata Tele Business Services (TTBS), Unity Small Finance Bank, and State Bank of India (SBI) for their use of open source technologies to drive innovation and transformation within their organizations.
The awards are part of Red Hat’s annual initiative to highlight organizations across Asia Pacific that leverage open source solutions to improve competitiveness and deliver value in their industries. This year’s theme, “Unlock what’s next,” focuses on how customers are using technology trends such as artificial intelligence and cloud computing to achieve tangible results.
Marjet Andriesse, senior vice president and general manager, APJC at Red Hat, stated: “The pace of change in Asia Pacific shows no signs of slowing, especially as AI becomes a core driver of business transformation. Indian Bank received recognition in the Cloud Native Development category for building India’s first private cloud infrastructure by a public sector bank using Red Hat OpenShift Platform Plus. This platform supports key banking applications such as omnichannel banking and digital lending. Ashutosh Choudhury, Executive Director at Indian Bank said: “At Indian Bank, our goal has been to build a modern, scalable foundation that can keep pace with the rapid evolution of digital banking. By working with Red Hat, we have gained the agility to scale resources efficiently, improve visibility across our systems, and deliver more reliable digital experiences for our customers. Tata Tele Business Services was recognized in both Digital Transformation and Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure categories for adopting an open hybrid cloud approach powered by Red Hat solutions. Anvize Rodrigues, Chief Information Officer at TTBS commented: “As we advance our journey as a trusted digital and connectivity solutions provider to businesses in India, agility and openness have become central to how we operate. Unity Small Finance Bank was awarded in the Digital Transformation category for deploying a modern customer relationship management platform on Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform. Yusuf Roopwala, Chief Information Officer at Unity Small Finance Bank said: “Our goal has always been to make banking simple, inclusive, and accessible to our customers in every corner of India. State Bank of India was honored for achievements in both Digital Transformation and Cloud Native Development categories after modernizing its digital channels using Red Hat platforms including OpenShift and Ansible Automation Platform. Anil Tembhe, Chief General Manager at SBI stated: “Collaborating with Red Hat has been instrumental in our journey to modernise and unify SBI’s digital platforms. This marks a new era in customer experience – one that is secure, scalable, and consistently seamless across every channel. Using Red Hat’s open, cloud-native foundation such as Red Hat OpenShift and Red Hat Ansible Automation has enabled us to innovate faster, strengthen resilience, and continue leading India’s digital banking evolution.”
A total of 30 winners were recognized across the Asia Pacific region this year for inventive uses of open source technologies.
