Red Hat and Oracle have announced an expansion of their collaboration to support hybrid cloud adoption. The initiative focuses on enhancing the compatibility of Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat OpenShift with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), including government, sovereign, and distributed cloud services.

Gartner predicts that 90% of organizations will adopt a hybrid cloud approach by 2027. They highlight data synchronization across these environments as a significant challenge. In response, Red Hat and Oracle are working to provide stronger support for foundational technologies that empower IT teams now and in the future.

The enhancements include a comprehensive range of validated configurations for Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat OpenShift on OCI. This makes them available even in sensitive computing environments like high-security government clouds.

Red Hat OpenShift is now certified to run on OCI Roving Edge Infrastructure, Oracle Compute Cloud@Customer, and Oracle Private Cloud Appliance. Additionally, OCI customers can use Red Hat Enterprise Linux on both OCI Dedicated Region Cloud and Oracle Alloy.

Support has also been expanded for OCI Compute bare metal instances powered by NVIDIA A100 GPUs and NVIDIA H100 GPUs. This allows organizations to build AI-powered applications with enhanced performance capabilities.

Oracle is actively validating its software, including Oracle WebLogic Server, to run as containers on Red Hat OpenShift. This provides users with a premium experience by combining the strengths of both companies’ technologies.

The validation effort includes the Oracle Cloud Scale Monetization portfolio on Red Hat OpenShift, offering communications service providers more infrastructure flexibility.

Furthermore, the ongoing collaboration between Red Hat and Oracle Database continues. Certification remains in place for Oracle Database on Red Hat Enterprise Linux while efforts are underway to validate deployment options for OpenShift Virtualization.
