Red Hat announced on March 2 the extension of its collaboration with Bell Canada, Canada’s largest communications provider. The new multi-year agreement aims to strengthen their long-standing relationship by integrating Red Hat OpenShift Platform Plus, Red Hat OpenStack Platform, Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization, and Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform into Bell’s network infrastructure.

The partnership is intended to help Bell deliver reliable and high-performance services while accelerating innovation for its customers. Mark McDonald, executive vice president and chief technology officer at Bell, said, “Extending our collaboration with Red Hat underscores the trust we place in their open hybrid cloud technologies to support the evolution of our networks, helping Bell deliver reliable, high-performance services and continue innovating for our customers.”

According to Red Hat, its open hybrid cloud technologies allow companies like Bell to adopt a unified telco cloud infrastructure that improves operational agility and supports business predictability. This consistent and scalable foundation is expected to help Bell advance its leadership in 5G technology and provide high-performance services at scale.

The agreement also focuses on modernizing virtualized workloads by migrating traditional workloads onto both Red Hat OpenStack Platform and Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization. It aims to establish a foundation for digital sovereignty by maintaining control over data residency and infrastructure integrity across various environments. Additionally, expanded automation capabilities will be enabled through the use of Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform.

Gino Grano, global vice president for Americas Communication Service Provider Segment at Red Hat, said, “Telecommunications has evolved into a high-stakes technology race. For our customers, including Bell Canada, leveraging a unified hybrid cloud foundation enables faster and more efficient evolution of next generation 5G and network services. Red Hat continues to work with service providers all over the world, helping them turn technical agility into market leadership, deploying next-generation 5G and network services with speed and efficiency.”

With this extended partnership in place, both companies are positioned to further develop advanced telecommunications solutions as they look toward future innovations in connectivity.
