Red Hat has announced that Hitachi, Ltd., a global leader in digital innovation and sustainable solutions, has built and deployed an internal AI platform using Red Hat OpenShift AI. This move marks a significant step in Hitachi’s journey towards becoming an AI-driven enterprise.

Miho Miura, Vice President of Area Sales at Red Hat, highlighted the significance of this development. “Hitachi’s AI platform is an example of how enterprise organizations can scale artificial intelligence to widen the scope of their mission. By building on Red Hat OpenShift AI, Hitachi has not only operationalized AI across its own business units but set a new standard for governance and cross-functional innovation. We’re proud to be a partner in their transformation.”

The platform utilizes Red Hat OpenShift AI for building, training, deploying, and monitoring generative and predictive AI models across the hybrid cloud. It supports over 250 active projects within Hitachi’s IT and OT domains. The implementation has reportedly improved call center efficiency and accelerated system development.

Masahiro Kikuchi, Director of Platform Service Department at Hitachi, stated: “Hitachi isn’t simply experimenting with AI–we’re industrializing it. The success of our internal platform and integrating AI tools like Red Hat OpenShift AI into our daily operations exemplifies how we’re making AI the heart of our business.”

Red Hat envisions a future where organizations can deploy any model on any accelerator across any cloud without infrastructure constraints. This vision aims to unlock the potential of generative AI investments by providing a universal inference platform for seamless high-performance AI innovation.

The announcement was made during the Red Hat Summit in Boston.
