The Reasonover Creek Trail at DuPont State Recreational Forest is set to undergo improvements, resulting in temporary closures. These enhancements are part of the forest’s Master Recreation Plan aimed at accommodating heavy recreational use while improving environmental sustainability and protecting nearby streams’ water quality.

“We are excited to improve this valuable trail,” stated Jane Dauster, a recreation specialist for the forest. She noted that “various sections of the trail project are in protected habitat so the trail cannot be relocated.” To address this, rock armoring will be employed to stabilize eroding parts of the trail, particularly near creeks and streams.

Rock armoring involves using natural stone to stabilize the trail surface, which helps maintain its character while enhancing sustainability and environmental protection.

Work on the trail is expected to commence on Monday, June 9, with completion anticipated by December 2025. The project will be overseen by staff from DuPont State Recreational Forest and executed in stages to minimize closures along Reasonover Creek Trail. Visitors are encouraged to adhere to all closure notices during their visits.
