The North Carolina State Capitol Police is pursuing its initial law enforcement accreditation through the Commission on Law Enforcement for Accreditation (CALEA). As part of this process, citizens of North Carolina are invited to provide public feedback via the CALEA Portal.
The portal allows residents to comment on the agency’s compliance with CALEA standards, community engagement, delivery of public safety services, and overall candidacy for accreditation. Feedback can include both commendations and concerns. The goal of the accreditation process is to offer information that supports continuous improvement and enhances professional excellence within the agency.
It is important to note that CALEA does not function as an investigatory body. Therefore, the public portal should not be used for submitting investigative information. While submissions will receive acknowledgment, there will be no further response. However, all information will be considered in relation to its relevance to compliance with standards and CALEA Accreditation principles.
For those interested in learning more about standard titles, they can visit the CALEA website. Questions regarding the accreditation process may be directed to the Accreditation Manager.
