North Carolina coastal commission to hold public meeting in Manteo

The North Carolina Coastal Resources Commission (CRC) will gather for its regular business meeting on April 30 and May 1 at the Dare County Government Center, located at 954 Marshall C. Collins Drive in Manteo. The meeting is set to commence at 1 p.m. on April 30, with proceedings resuming at 9 a.m. on May 1. A public input session is planned for May 1 at 9:15 a.m., where individual speakers may have a time limit of three minutes, at the chair’s discretion. The public has the option to attend the meeting in person or participate online.

The Coastal Resources Advisory Council (CRAC) is also scheduled to meet on April 30 at 9 a.m. in a separate conference room at the same venue. This session will only be available for in-person attendance.

Concerning the CRC, the meeting’s agenda includes a range of topics. On April 30, the discussions will cover variance requests related to oceanfront setbacks and paving, updating forms for Areas of Environmental Concern, and fiscal analyses related to certain use standards and urban waterfront areas. Later, there will be a public hearing about Jockey’s Ridge Area of Environmental Concern at 4 p.m.

The meeting on May 1 will involve the approval of beach management plans for Ocean Isle Beach and Carolina Beach, as well as providing updates on litigation relevant to the commission. The day will also include a field trip for commission members to Buxton and Rodanthe.
