The North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (NCDA&CS) has launched a new campaign in partnership with N.C. State University running back Hollywood Smothers to highlight the nutritional value of dairy milk for athletes.

Smothers, recognized for his performance in college football, is the face of the campaign. He discusses how milk supports his athletic activities and daily life. Paige Garland, who manages Homeland Creamery in Julian, also appears in the campaign by giving Smothers a glass of milk during a workout session. This scene aims to connect local dairy producers with sports figures.

“North Carolina has a long history of producing great athletes and local dairy products, and we are excited that our latest student-athlete partnership with Hollywood Smothers celebrates both,” said Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler. “We are thrilled to partner with this talented athlete in promoting the state’s dairy industry and NC State football. Go Pack!”

The promotional effort will use platforms such as Instagram, X, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn to communicate how dairy milk can benefit athletes and other consumers seeking energy and nutrition.

This initiative is the fourth time NCDA&CS has used student-athlete Name, Image, and Likeness agreements to promote dairy milk, with three campaigns featuring athletes from N.C. State University.
